Vanpool - What is it?
A vanpool is a group of 5 to 15 people who commute together on a regular basis in a roomy, comfortable van. One person volunteers to be the driver of the vanpool and normally rides for free. The riders share the cost of operation.
Who Typically Vanpools?
Commuters who:
• Have at least a 30-minute drive or travel more than 15 miles one-way to work.
• Maintain a relatively consistent work schedule.
• Want to save money, time and our environment.

- Share the cost of gasoline with 6 to 14 other riders. Vanpoolers save over $1,000 a year or more compared to the cost of driving alone.

- Coastal Regional Commission’s turnkey program includes a commuter van, comprehensive insurance and maintenance, an emergency ride home program and a month-to-month agreement.

- Coastal Regional Commission offers qualifying vanpool groups a $400 monthly subsidy
- Many Federal employees are eligible to receive an additional tax-free transportation benefit of up to $230 per month.
