Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk - Open Until Filled
Pay Range: $12.62-19.08/hour ($26,249 - $39,686) (DOQ, Annual)
General Statement of Job
Summary: Under General Supervision the Accounting Technician computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, and accounts payable records, substantiating business transactions.
- Prepares and maintains various spreadsheets for accounts payable and files.
- Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as items received and funds disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
- Reviews invoices against purchase orders and prepares for payment.
- Monitors loan transactions to ensure that payments are up to date.
- Codes general ledger data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
- Assists employees, vendors, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
- Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, entering, and downloading data.
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education and/or Experience - Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate amounts; such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Payroll systems; Excel spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Current Georgia Driver’s License
